Whispers are a sign that some information doesn't need to be public knowledge, it is just for you. One of the reasons that I love animals so much is their simplicity of thought. Animals are not complex creatures who demand complicated scientific theories. Animals only ask for the simplicity of being heard.

After she broke her P2 (ankle), I could hear the whisper of my horse Gramsey. This was a life-changing experience which continues to bear fruit until this very day. As I was faced with two trusted veterinarians and an equine orthopedic specialist who were all in agreement that euthanasia was the only choice, I listened as my horse whispered the words, "Give me a chance". That whisper alone sent my heart and mind into a chaos. How does one respond to the whisper of a horse? Did I have the courage to trust this insight over the advice given by professionals? This was one of the most torturous debates I have ever experienced. Although I was alone in making the decision, I wasn't alone in the circumstances that were about to evolve. Looking back, I recognize that a force greater than myself was present. I can see how the whisper from my horse sparked a new feeling within me to trust. I trusted that I heard her message and I acted without knowing what the outcome would be. The uncertainty was enough to make me crazy and I had to learn how to trust each moment without deviating to the bigger picture my mind was trying to point out.

All of us hear whispers from animals but how many of us are willing to trust the information that we receive? Those four words, "give me a chance" were life changing for me and for my horse as well. Four simple words started a war between my head and my heart and gifted me with the ability to trust. Believe me, I resisted with all my might as I walked alone out onto that limb. Of course, I did not know what the outcome would be. I was simply relying on trust. Trusting and surrendering are never easy nor can they be processed by the rational mind. They are simply matters of the heart. Know this: When animals whisper to you, they are communicating with your heart. Our doubts, fears, and human reasoning are no match for the trust that there is a force greater than ourselves existing in all life.
